Top Ten Tagging Blunders for Consignors to Avoid at Kids EveryWEAR Consignment Sale

Don't Forget

We've created a searchable Items Accepted Chart and a printable Pricing Guide to help you as you tag! We are not accepting adult clothing at our Kids EveryWEAR Sales in March and September except Maternity and Nursing Wear!

#1: Old tags

Our new tags require you to enter the prices and your discount choice online. This will make checkout much easier for everyone and minimize your time at checkout! But it is SO EASY because you can create and save a pdf of a page of tags for $1, $2, $3, $4... and just print a new page each time you need one. Then handwrite the descriptions for each item. OR enter all of the info including the description online! Remember, as of July 2019 we require new tags with QR codes on them! If your items do not have QR code tags, they will not be sold. If you are taping the tag to an item, DO NOT cover the QR code with packing tape!

REMEMBER:  If you want to change your price or discount choice, you must retag your item. You can not alter price or discount choice with a pen! You can print QR stickers on our print tag page for each price point and use those to change prices and discounts.

#2: Not checking our Items Accepted Chart

We have this handy dandy Items Accepted Chart. Please refer to it each sale. There have been some changes this year. Please refer to this chart when you begin tagging for each sale so you don't waste your time tagging things we won't accept!

 #3: Tagging the hanger

I don't care if you're Bill Gates, $4 is a lot of money for a hanger. Clothes come off, so please tag the item, not the hanger!!! Speaking of hangers, be sure to check our instructions about hanging pants too. If they flop together on the hanger, they won't sell. Be sure they stay flat and look great. Merchandising is where it's at.

#4: Parts and pieces not securely packaged

Work in toys for five minutes and you'll be a believer! That bin of Legos will get dumped in the Dora bin if you don't securely tape the lid! Also, multi-pieced clothing sets should be secured together with a safety pin or cable tie.

#5: Lame descriptions or no descriptions at all

How can a tag that says "shirt" ever get matched back up with its hot pink Carters partner? We do not sell items without tags, but we do make every effort to match tags back up with tagless items. Similarly, a detailed description that reads "5 pair pink training pants - do not smell" does not exactly help sell the item. (True story!)

#6: Thin paper for tags instead of cardstock

If you pinch pennies here, your tags will fall off, and then you won't make a dime. We require that you print your tags on 65 or 67 lb cardstock not regular weight paper. Shoe tags fall off especially easily because of the weight of the shoes. Put clear packing tape on the top corner of all tags before you hole punch and consider putting two layers on shoe tags. Please do not cover the QR code with tape.

#7: High prices

Be competitive; don't overprice. You're going to buy shirts for 2-4 bucks each, so pass along the favor. Ask yourself what you'd be willing to pay at a consignment sale for this item. We do have this handy Pricing Guide with pricing suggestions you might find helpful.

#8: Fear of 75% off

The truth really is that HALF of our items sell to KE Crew and consignors at full price! Truckloads more sell at full price to the public. If you price to allow a max of 75% off, the only things that will get discounted are slightly overpriced to begin with or items you probably don't want back in the first place.

#9: Attaching clothing to the hanger

DO NOT ZIPTIE clothing or your tag to the hanger! Customers want to try on your items. Make it easy for them. You want your items to sell, so don't make them hard to try on.

#10: Hanging in the wrong place at drop-off

It really doesn't matter how adorable your pink gingham toddler dress is if it spends the sale mixed up in the size 8 football jerseys. Yes, Kids EveryWEAR does a fantastic job organizing, but the more mistakes you or your helpers make when placing your goodies, the less chance you have of selling them. Two rules: Hang to the right of the size sign as you face the rack and SIZE UP!!! That means a tag that says 6-9 months belongs on the 9 month rack. There is an additional $10 fee per ten clothing items we correct or that we have to pull because they are stained/torn/off-season.
