Check before you tag: Inspect every item in bright light for stains - the top reason items get pulled. Each unaccepted item costs you $1. Seasonal note: At the Spring BoutiqueBASH, no winter holiday clothing (Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas). Summer holiday items are welcome at the August sale. When in doubt, leave it out.

The golden rules of pricing

Consignors price their own items, but remember: Items that are priced too high simply will not sell!

Minimum Price: Clothing has a $5 minimum price — that's the only minimum. Toys, gear, housewares, shoes, accessories, undergarments, and everything else have no minimum, so price them however you like — just remember our rule that nothing may be priced higher than 50% of retail.

  • The "math" method: Take the lowest retail price, cut it at least in half, and aim for 1/4 to 1/3 of the original retail for brand-name items in excellent condition.
  • Be a shopper: Put yourself in their shoes! Ask: "Would I buy this item, in this condition, for this price?"
  • Focus on Full Price: Most of our shoppers shop only on our Full Price days. Price to sell at full price!
  • Leave emotions at the door: Try not to attach sentimental feelings to your price. Emotion leads to over-pricing (and unsold items!).
  • Show off the value: Include the retail price in your description field so shoppers see the deal they are getting: "RETAIL $110"

Know your competition!

Supply and demand is real. Use it to your advantage:

  • Infant sizes (0-9mo): These get very little wear and there is a plentiful selection. Price these on the low side to move them fast!
  • Boys' clothing (2T-6): These are harder to find! If you have like-new, name-brand boys' gear in these sizes, you can aim for the higher end of our recommendations.
  • Athleta & Lululemon: These are hot sellers but odd colors and tiny or largest sizes might be harder to sell than black and common colors.

The nitty-gritty: discounts & tags

Discount options: We hold a 50% clearance sale on the final day. Choose your discount settings on the Print Tags page. We strongly suggest 50% off for BB and 75% off for KE & EE.

Tag colors: Use white cardstock if you want to donate unsold items. Use your assigned color if you plan to pick them up.

Using the wrong cardstock color, thin paper, or descriptions shorter than 3 words costs you a 60% fee.
